The staff at Midtown Veterinary Clinic in Newbury Park, California, has cared for cats, dogs, and exotic animals for over 30 years. We proudly serve Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks, and the rest of the Conejo Valley. We are a full-service veterinary clinic that offers quality healthcare for pets in a facility with the latest medical equipment.

Our Veterinarian

William M. Thomas, Jr., DVM

Veterinarian
Dr. Thomas was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. He earned his B.S. and DVM degrees at Auburn University. 
After graduating, Dr. Thomas decided to move out to California because the economy was doing well and he knew the opportunity would allow him to practice better veterinary medicine. 

Dr. Thomas has been at Midtown for 25 years.
His personal pets include a Labrador, a French Bulldog, a cat, and fish. His dogs accompany Dr. Thomas on all of his adventures camping, and to the lake and desert. 
In his spare time, Dr. Thomas loves the great outdoors including camping, boating, and ocean fishing at Channel Islands.

Dr. Thomas loves working with his hands and loves woodworking. He put himself through college as an excellent carpenter.

Miguel, RVT

Veterinary Technician
Miguel is the friendly face that you have been seeing at Midtown since 1991! 

He was born and raised in Cali, Colombia and went to school in both Colombia and the United States to become a registered veterinary technician.

He had been the happy owner to dog, cat, and hamster.

After work, you will see Miguel riding his bike, playing soccer, and finding any chance to bust a move. 

Alyssa

Clinic Manager/Technician Assistant
Alyssa was homegrown right here in Newbury Park. She graduated from Newbury Park High School and is currently in school to be a licensed Veterinary Technician.  

She has five dogs with whom she loves to take on family trips to the California Delta. 

During her spare time, Alyssa enjoys hanging out with friends and going to the beach. 


Miguel Castro, RVT

Veterinary Technician
Miguel is the friendly face that you have been seeing at Midtown since 1991! 

He was born and raised in Cali, Colombia and went to school in both Colombia and the United States to become a registered veterinary technician.

He had been the happy owner to dog, cat, and hamster.

After work, you will see Miguel heading to the gym, riding his bike, playing soccer, and cooking his favorite dish: chicken stew and lentils.

Fun Fact: There is no beat that he can resist dancing to.

Judy LaMontagne 

Clinic Manager
Judy has been waving to you from her back desk since 2010. She puts her associate’s degree to good use handling the clinic’s bookkeeping. 

Judy grew up in the San Fernando Valley, but has been a Simi Valley resident for over 30 years. She is the happy pet mom to her rescued dogs, cats, birds, and fish, all of which were rescues. All dogs and cats keep her entertained with their antics.

When she’s not spending time with her family, she is also likes to paint, crochet, and binge-watch a good detective series. 

Fun Fact: Judy has a passion for animals and has rescued over 100 kittens and puppies, bottle feeding them until they are ready to go to their forever homes. She finds it very rewarding. 

Janna

Clinic Manager/Technician Assistant

Janna was born and raised in Simi Valley. She has attended Moorpark College and Penn Foster, with the goal of becoming a registered veterinary technician. 


Janna owns a Blue Nose Pitbull named Sampson. The two love to go swimming in the summer, and finish the day with some belly rubs and a good cuddle. 


In her spare time, she enjoys riding horses and scuba diving. If staying in, she is either wrapping her head around a puzzle or competing in billiards tournaments.


Julie Shain

Front Office Manager/Social Media Manager
Julie was born and raised in Newbury Park. She attended the University of New Hampshire and also studied film and photography at Oxford University. She then went on to earn her degree in broadcast journalism at CSUN, and went on to work in news for many years.  

Julie owns cats who feel like her children. They love to play fetch or just cuddle on the couch. 

In her spare time, Julie enjoys pet sitting while owners are on vacation, traveling, and binge-watching mysteries. 

Fun Fact: Julie used to be a writer and news reporter for local radio and TV stations. If you google her, you can still dig up her old resume tape!

Alyssa Gruen

Receptionist
Alyssa was homegrown right here in Newbury Park. She recently graduated from Newbury Park High School and is attending Moorpark College. 

She has three dogs with whom she loves to take on family trips to the California Delta.

During her spare time, Alyssa enjoys hanging out with friends and going to the beach. 

Fun Fact: Alyssa has a twin who is 14 minutes younger. Alyssa claims to be the fearless one.

                            Eunice

                                        Receptionist
Eunice was born in El Salvador and grew up in Camarillo. She is currently enrolled at Moorpark College majoring in electrical engineering.

Eunice is the proud owner of 3 adopted cats named Luna, Artemis, and Power. However, she is now spending most of her time chasing around Bowie, her brand new Aussie/Pointer pup. 

Eunice served in the marines where she created power grids to communications systems. The challenges of being a woman in the Marines prepared her to tackle any challenge head-on.  


Kayla

Receptionist

Kayla was born and raised here in Newbury Park. She graduated from Newbury park High School and then got her degree in Criminal Justice at Boise State University.


She has 4 dogs named Bella, Brooklyn, Harlow, and Wheeler (the newest addition!). They are all rescues and vary in ages from 6 months-6 years.


In her free time, Kayla enjoys hitting the gym, hanging out with her friends, or binging a captivating true crime documentary.

Theresa

Receptionist

Theresa was born in a small town called Camden, Tennessee. She has a combined 23 years of experience working in veterinary field in both the U.S. and overseas.


One of Theresa's strongest passions in life is wildlife conservation. So much so, she spends most of her free time volunteering at the Ojai Raptor Center, specifically working with birds of prey.


She has traveled all over the world and has most recently resided in Asia and Europe (still helping animals of all kinds along the way, of course!) before returning to the United States.

Arianna

Receptionist/Technician Assistant
Arianna was born and raised in Oxnard, California. She is currently working towards her next step: a civil engineering degree.

Arianna has a cat, named Mars, and a Husky, named Toby, who both love to play.

When she's not at Midtown, Arianna enjoys going to the gym and doing puzzles at home.

Arianna works as a Combat Engineer for the National Guard doing demolitions. 

Sam

Technician Assistant
Sam was born in Tarzana, California and raised in Agoura Hills. Realizing she prefers analyzing animals over people, Sam is currently earning her Associates of Science degree to become a veterinary technician. 

Sam has a Chihuahua mix named Pickle. Pickle is a homebody who enjoys watching TV shows that feature other dogs. 
 
In her spare time, Sam enjoys sunny So-Cal activities like hiking, stand-up paddleboarding, and kayaking. 
 

LeeAnne Hall

Technician Assistant
LeeAnne was born in Santa Monica and moved to Sonoma, California when she was 12. Her education is in childhood development. 

LeeAnne has a cat named Phoebe and a Chihuahua named Eliza Jane who both love to snuggle at night.

When she's not at Midtown, LeeAnne enjoys an evening out with her boyfriend; spending time with her children, and catching a new episode of "90 Day Fiance" with her nephew. 

Fun Fact: LeeAnne was once a ballet dancer and performed with the Marin and San Francisco Ballet companies. 

Christine Grade

Technician Assistant
Christine was born and raised in Glendale, California. She earned her bachelor’s of science degree in animal science/pre-veterinary med from Fresno State. She hopes her training at Midtown will lead us to calling her Dr. Christine, D.V.M. one day.
 
Christine’s second home is the barn where she spends time with horses and her off-the-track-thoroughbred named Moose. She enjoys agility training with her Aussie/Border Collie mix named Shelby and being entertained by her two cats. A Frenchie puppy named Ash has just arrived to complete their family.
 
When Christine isn’t at the barn, she is competing in horse shows or swing dancing with her boyfriend. She loves outdoor sports and has been excelling at them her whole life.  

Fun Fact: Christine was 1 of 15 people in the United States chosen to go to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs for a water polo goalie camp.
